Alan Wake 2, a title initially announced at The Game Awards 2021, is an upcoming survival horror game from Remedy Entertainment and a sequel to 2010’s Alan Wake. According to Remedy Entertainment’s 2022 Financial Statements Release on February 10, the title is in full production and is already in a state that is fully playable from start to finish.
Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala comments:
Alan Wake 2 is in full production. The game will soon have all content in place, and it is playable from start to finish. We will then move onto polishing the experience. Alan Wake is a unique brand that holds high value for the company today. Alan Wake Remastered has not yet generated royalties. However, we expect the sales to increase as the release of Alan Wake 2 becomes imminent and fans and new players want to experience the original story on new generation consoles.
Aside from Alan Wake 2 being in full production, Remedy Entertainment has many other games in the pipeline. Three projects are currently in the proof-of-concept phase, including Control 2, a game expanding on the world from 2019’s Control, Codename Condor, a service-based game, and Codename Vanguard.
Max Payne 1&2 Remake is also in the works and has been making good progress, according to Virtala, but it remains in the concept stage for now.
Alan Wake 2 is scheduled to release in 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
