Shadows of Doubt: How to Fix Stinky Status Effect

You smell.

If you’re totally stinking up the room, it can really cramp your style in Shadows of Doubt. Here’s how to fix it.

In Shadows of Doubt, players can succumb to a variety of status effects that can make your detective work a whole lot harder. One of these effects is a rather funny one — stinkiness. Now usually, the pungent aromas of body odor wouldn’t be too much of a problem, but in this sly detective game, the stinky status alerts NPCs to your location and can really throw a wrench in things. If you smell like an old used sock, here’s how to fix the stinky status effect in Shadows of Doubt.

How to Fix Stinky Status Effect in Shadows of Doubt

Players will know that they are stinky when there is a red sock icon on the top left of the screen. To fix the Stinky status effect, players must go back to their apartment and take a shower. Open the shower door and interact with the handle to turn it on. Stay in the shower until the status effect has worn off, then interact with the towel to dry off.

Players can pull up their case board to find their apartment on the map.

Ultimately, the stinky status effect is one of the more annoying status effects in the game because NPCs can smell you, and it prevents you from sneaking around. Once someone is alerted to your location via your pungent aroma, you should probably take out a weapon because they are likely to find you.

Going back to your apartment and showering regularly will prevent you from smelling bad, so we recommend maintaining good hygiene just like in real life.
