Shadows of Doubt: How to Get an Apartment

Homeless no more! Here’s how you can obtain an apartment in Shadows of Doubt.

Being a detective ain’t easy. On top of having to solve all those cases, you’ll also need to take care of your basic needs. Being homeless doesn’t really lend itself well to that, so you may want to find a place to stay. If you’re looking for a home of your own, you’ll need to cough up the money for it, but it’s worth it. Here’s how to get an apartment in the game.

How to Get an Apartment in Shadows of Doubt

To get an apartment in the game, visit a business or City Hall and look at the board next to the pay phone. Right-click (X/Square on controller) on the Apartment for Sale listing, then select the Purchase button.

From here, you can pull up your case board, bring up the map, then hit the house icon on the left side of the map to plan a route to your new accommodations. Luckily, you don’t have to pay rent, so the upfront payment is all you’ll need to make.

Some apartments will be more expensive than others depending on the quality of the lodging. If you can’t afford any of the apartments on the board, you have a few options. Either do more cases to get the money, steal the money from houses and businesses, or you can look at other boards in the city for cheaper options.

Usually, there are a few budget options on the worse side of town. There doesn’t seem to be any benefit of having a nicer place, except for the fact that the people around you are less likely to rob or stab you, which — I guess as I’m saying that out loud, is a pretty good bonus.

Getting Stabbed in Shadows of Doubt

Being homeless in Shadows of Doubt isn’t actually the worse thing in the world, but if you want to gain access to the impressive amount of furnishings and customization options available, it’s a good option. Also, you’ll be able to get drawers and cabinets where you can store items, a bed to sleep in, and a reliable place to shower

That being said, I went a few hours without investing in an apartment, and it was fine for me.
