The charming but highly-difficult Wildfrost is getting an upcoming patch to help with the card-tuning issues.
If you love deck builders and strategic card games and wanted to love Wildfrost but just couldn’t get into it because of the insane difficulty curve, don’t worry — you’re not alone. Currently sitting with Mixed reviews on Steam, many users complain about the harsh difficulty and overturning of certain bosses.
This news is somewhat surprising for a strategy roguelike deck builder, as hard difficulty is typically on par for the genre. However — it looks like the developers of the game, Deadpan Games, made a game that was a bit too hard.
Wildfrost Developers Address Difficulty
According to a recent post on Steam, the developers stated, “…we would love to get more feedback on how we can make Wildfrost more accessible to all players!” They go on to state,
“We’re also looking to address the balance feedback we’ve seen, to give players more options, and allow for a smoother difficulty curve. We hope these changes will address some of the comments we’ve seen, while also allowing for a challenging experience for those who want it. This is something we’re actively working on resolving, and we’ll share more information about how this works in practice soon!”
While they didn’t outline exactly how they would balance the game, I do think it’s generally a good idea for this game after playing it on full release. There’s a fine line between being challenging and demoralizing, and I can see why players would be frustrated with the title’s difficulty.
