The deeply complex Barotrauma is getting an official release on March 13, 2023, on Steam.
With over 2.5 million downloads, Barotrauma is a smash indie hit. A submarine sim with interesting and complex mechanics, players are tasked with captaining a submarine while avoiding the mutated creatures and other dangers lurking around every corner — all while managing a diverse crew.
Barotrauma 1.0 Release Date
Developed by FakeFish and Undertow Games, Barotrauma has come quite a long way since its original release into Early Access in the summer of 2019. Barotrauma 1.0 is officially set to release on March 13, 2023, for PC on Steam.
With a pretty sizeable cult following, the 1.0 release will usher in the long-awaited rival factions and some changes to the campaign mode, including a new ending.
Started by a single man, Joonas Rikkonen, Barotrauma is a community-driven game that has received a lot of love over the years. Rikkonen states:
“Barotrauma has been a great community-assisted effort for almost a decade now, and we’re thrilled to be reaching 1.0 after all these years. We can’t wait to hear what our players think about the faction overhaul and the real ending of the campaign, and look forward to making more updates even after this release.”
