Beyond the Long Night is an action-packed roguelike adventure that heavily emphasizes chaotic combat, cute characters, and mystery. Players explore a subterranean world filled with monsters and secrets, battling their way through three randomly generated areas to escape a deadly storm and reach the Overworld beyond.

Combat is a major focus of Beyond the Long Night, with players using twin-stick controls to shoot, dodge, throw items, and use superpowers to take down their enemies. Upgrades can be stacked to create powerful combinations that allow players to wreak havoc on their foes. As you adventure, you’ll meet a colorful cast of friendly cave dwellers, complete side quests, and follow their stories across multiple runs.
Surviving the deadly storm is a key component of The Dark Mountain, with players balancing their build and time to avoid the corrupting force that chases them up the mountain. Puzzle-solving is also a major part of the game, with secrets and mysteries scattered throughout the world waiting to be discovered. The game’s randomly generated maps are built from individually handcrafted rooms, and the retro-inspired chiptune soundtrack adds to the game’s unique charm.
