What is Call of the Wild: The Angler?
Set in Golden Ridge Reserve, a fictional location based on Yellowstone National Park, The Angler is a realistic fishing simulation game developed by Expansive Worlds, the same company that brought you theHunter: Call of the Wild. In The Angler, you can travel via foot, truck, or boat and find scenic locations and fish with your friends.
Unlike the original theHunter: Call of the Wild game, which was based around a hunting land animals, The Angler will focus on fishing the waters around Golden Ridge Reserve. Also, unlike the original, The Angler is taking a more intentional approach to world-building and character development.
For one, you’ll be able to customize your character this time. In addition, they have already teased several unique characters in their blog, like Clayton Johnson, a park ranger, and Sophia Taylor, your resident expert angler.
A Social Experience
While you could play theHunter: Call of the Wild with friends, it would be incredibly annoying unless everyone was coordinated and knew what they were doing. Sneaking up on an animal for 15 minutes only to be disturbed by your buddy stomping up behind you is pretty soul-crushing.
In Call of the Wild: The Angler, social interaction is at the forefront of development, which is a welcome change. Instead of your friends ruining the game experience, they will enhance it–which is something we’re really looking forward to.
