CD Projekt Red took to Twitter this morning to announce an upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel codenamed Project Orion. There are few details about the upcoming sequel to 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077, but it will “continue harnessing the potential of this dark future universe.”
The Twitter thread also goes on to announce the next installment in The Witcher game series, codenamed Polaris, is in the works. The game will be followed by two additional Witcher games, codenamed Canis Majoris and Sirius, “creating a new AAA RPG trilogy.”
Finally, CD Projekt also announced a brand new IP codenamed Hadar. According to the tweet, the project is currently in the early creative stages, so full-on development has not yet started. CDPR is creating the new IP from scratch and currently working on building the foundation for the new setting.
What is Project Orion?
Project Orion is the codename for the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, an upcoming game set in the Cyberpunk universe created by Mike Pondsmith, which will release sometime after the Phantom Liberty expansion. The game will begin initial development after Phantom Liberty’s release.
What is Project Polaris?
Project Polaris is the codename for the next installment in The Witcher game series. The game was announced on October 4, 2022, and marks the beginning of a new Witcher trilogy. The game will be released on Unreal Engine 5.
What is Project Canis Majoris?
Project Canis Majoris is a story-driven open-world RPG set inside The Witcher universe. The game will be developed by an external studio headed by experienced developers who worked on past Witcher games.
What is Project Sirius?
Project Sirius is the codename for an upcoming game set in the Witcher universe. The game is being developed by The Molasses Flood, developer of Flame in the Flood. It is expected to be an innovative take on the series offering multiplayer and single-player gameplay complete with quests and a story.
What is Project Hadar?
Project Hadar is the codename for a brand new IP from CD Projekt Red, announced on October 4, 2022. The game is in its earliest stages of the creative process at the time of the announcement. The genre of Hadar will be in the company’s wheelhouse, but no additional details have been announced.
The news also coincides with Marcin Iwiński, co-founder and Joint CEO of CD Projekt, stepping down from his executive role to focus on supporting the Management Board as Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
