Classified: France ’44, A WWII Tactics Game Coming in 2023

Team17 Digital and Absolutely Games have announced the upcoming release of Classified: France ’44, a turn-based tactics game set during World War II. The game, which is set to launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 in 2023, is inspired by the untold story of the Jedburghs – a group of heroic Allied special forces dropped behind enemy lines – and disparate brave Resistance groups working across Northern France during the weeks and months ahead of the decisive Normandy landings on D-Day.

Just like the title would indicate, the trailer for the game is, well, pretty classified in terms of gameplay. We do get to see what universe gamers will be in when the game launches later this year, and we see silhouetted images of what we can expect to be the main protagonists in the title.

Classified: France ’44 introduces evolutionary gameplay mechanics for the turn-based tactical genre, including a much greater emphasis on using stealth to complete missions, an overwatch ability that provides tactical options, and an engaging morale-based combat and suppression system.

The game features a series of tactical realism combined with stealth play, enemy engagements designed to replicate real-world military strategy, and a campaign based on the heroic exploits of the Allied special forces and French Resistance factions ahead of the Normandy landings.
