With all the exciting game releases that have been happening recently, it can sometimes be hard to keep track of everything. Cult of the Lamb, a game developed by Massive Monster and published by Devolver Digital, is taking over the Steam charts, hitting over 1 million sales.

Overwhelmingly Positive Reviews

It seems everywhere you look; people are loving the game. With an aggregate Metacritic score at a solid 82 and a Very Positive rating on Steam, both critics and players agree it’s a blast to play.

This Ain’t Their First Rodeo

If publishers Devolver Digital sound familiar, it’s probably because you’ve enjoyed or heard of some of their previous titles.

Devolver has published previous titles like Hotline Miami and Inscryption, so they know a thing or two about spotting talent. For Massive Monster, this success is confirmation they’re capable of doing a lot on a limited indie budget.

What’s the Hype About?

Cult of the Lamb is a hack-and-slash roguelike and has drawn many comparisons to games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, except this time, you’re an evil lamb with aspirations to control other, seemingly cute-looking animals.

Much like Devolver Digital’s other games, Cult of the Lamb is addictive. Cult of the Lamb manages to accomplish a lot with a simple premise, which is likely why it’s reached this level of popularity.

We’re honestly a fan of the 2D isometric aesthetic as well as the story. It’s good fun and deep enough, but not overwhelming or tedious. While some players across different platforms have experienced bugs that diminish their experience, it’s almost to be expected with this kind of release.

If you’d like to try Cult of the Lamb yourself, it’s currently available for PCPlayStationXbox, and Nintendo Switch.
