Today’s Night City Wire started with a bang, announcing the first Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty. The expansion takes place in an all-new district of Night City. Fans got a sneak peek at some footage in a short minute-long trailer:
When is the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Release Date?
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty is set to release in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia. An exact release date is not confirmed at this time.
Cyberpunk 2077 ‘Edgerunners Update’
Alongside the announcement for the expansion were details about the Edgerunners update for Cyberpunk 2077. The update brings the game to version 1.6, which includes some pretty cool changes, including some new cosmetics inspired by the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime on Netflix, which drops on September 13.
Cyberpunk 2077 Wardrobe and Customization
First off, the update includes a new Wardrobe feature for Cyberpunk 2077, allowing players to customize V’s style without gimping any stats. According to the developers, this was one of the most highly requested features. The Wardrobe is available in your (or your partner’s) apartment.
To further expand on this feature, there is also a clothing preview option, so you can see what your character looks like while shopping. You no longer have to waste your Eddies to see how the clothes look on your character.
Additionally, you can now set your appearance at any of the Ripperdocs in the city. These new character customization features will allow for some pretty sweet roleplaying in Night City.
And what good are all these changes if you can’t show off your look on social media? Updates have been made to the in-game photo mode, introducing some new features to play with and making your photos more customizable.
Another fun little in-game activity that has been added is an arcade game called Roach Race. It’s a simple side-scrolling game, and it’s actually been ported to mobile and is downloadable on Android and iOS. There are in-game prizes to win if you manage to dominate the scoreboard while playing it in Night City!
Cyberpunk 2077 New Weapons
Six new firearms and five new melee weapons are getting added to Cyberpunk 2077. Players obtain these weapons in various ways, like completing new gigs, exploring Night City, and purchasing them from vendors. Only a few were showcased during the Night City Wire stream, but we saw a new sniper rifle, a fully-automatic shotgun, a toxic knife, and a chainsaw, to name a few.
To close things out, we learned there are some new secrets to find in the game. So get to exploring Night City and see if you can uncover them before anyone else!
