Best Dead by Daylight The Trickster (Ji-Woon Hak) Builds

Be a showstopper with our Dead by Daylight best builds guide for Ji-Woon Hak "The Trickster."

The All-Kill Chapter of Dead by Daylight added the knife-throwing showman “The Trickster.” We’ve already covered his Perks; now let’s cover the best Dead by Daylight Ji-Woon Hak “The Trickster” builds.

Best Dead by Daylight The Trickster Builds

The best DbD builds for Ji-Woon Hak, “The Trickster,” focuses on improving his Chase Power. The Trickster has weaker but more numerous projectiles.

The best Dead by Daylight The Trickster (Ji-Woon Hak) builds include:

Cursed Company

The Cursed Company build focuses on debuffing Survivors in Chase.

Here are the Perks and Add-ons in the Cursed Company build:

Add-ons:

  • Bloody Boa (Rare)
  • Edge of Revival Album (Very Rare)

Perks:

  • Hex: Blood Favor (From The Blight)
  • Hex: Crowd Control (Base The Trickster Perk)
  • Hex: Retribution (From The Deathslinger)
  • Deadlock (From the Cenobite)

The Add-ons give The Trickster more knives and let them shatter upon hitting the environment. This means more chances to deal damage.

Hex: Blood Favor and Hex: Crowd Control are the core of this build. Blood Favor blocks Pallets, and Crowd Control blocks Windows. The Trickster can still land some knives during the Vault and Pallet animations, but he can land even more if Survivors don’t have these resources. He can also land Basic Attacks more easily this way.

Hex: Retribution kicks in when the Survivors start hunting for totems to disable Blood Favor and Crowd Control. As long as it’s active, every cleansed Hex Totem gives Aura Reading. The Trickster can use this to find Survivors working on Generator repairs.

Since this build focuses on aggressive play, we don’t have the time or Perks for Generator Regression. Instead, Deadlock causes passive Generator Slowdown by forcing Survivors to spread out their repair progress.

Generalist

The Generalist build is a well-rounded Loadout.

Here are the Perks and Add-ons in the Generalist build:

Add-ons:

  • Caged Heart Shoes (Uncommon)
  • Tequila Moonrock (Uncommon)

Perks:

  • Monitor & Abuse (From The Doctor)
  • Surveillance (From The Pig)
  • Eruption (From The Nemesis)
  • Fearmonger (Base Perk)

Our Add-ons make The Trickster faster when throwing Knives and increase the duration of his “Main Event” super mode—simple, general buffs.

Monitor & Abuse lets The Trickster get closer before Survivors start running. He has a “general area” audio warning like The Huntress, but it’s more subtle; many Survivors don’t recognize it. He has a smaller Terror Radius by default, and with M&A, he can get very close without warning.

Eruption is our Regression Perk. The Trickster can start injuring Survivors from a distance after kicking the Generator they were repairing. It can take him longer to secure the Down than other Killers, so we’re taking Regression that triggers on a Down instead of a Hook or even after.

Surveillance is our Information Perk. If another Survivor jumps on a Generator hit by Eruption, we know immediately and can return to it. Fearmonger debuffs Survivors working on Generators. It robs them of info and inflicts Exhausted, denying their strongest Chase Perks.

Remember, Fearmonger’s Exhaustion fades after 3 seconds of not running, so you should only sometimes try to kick the Generator to set up Eruption. A quick Down can be more important, especially if the Survivors are already struggling.

Perfect Vision

The Perfect Vision build is focused on Aura Reading.

Here are the Perks and Add-ons in the Perfect Vision build:

Add-ons:

  • Diamond Cufflinks (Very Rare)
  • Ripper Brace (Rare)

Perks:

  • Lethal Pursuer (From The Nemesis)
  • BBQ & Chili (From The Cannibal)
  • Iron Maiden (From The Legion)
  • Darkness Revealed (From The Dredge)

The Add-ons grant Aura Reading on almost-Lacerated Survivors and let Laceration linger for longer. This enables the Trickster to get injuries or even Downs he may have missed otherwise.

Lethal Pursuer lets us start the Trial by seeing Survivor Auras and where to start chasing. It also benefits every other Aura Reading source, which is most of our build.

BBQ & Chili shows Survivor Auras after every Hook. This is good for keeping the pressure on; we save time looking for our next target. Some Survivors (like us) expect BBQ and will hide in a Locker for a few seconds during Hooks. This activates Iron Maiden, revealing and Exposing them once they exit. It also gives faster Locker opening speed, which helps Trickster reload.

Since Trickster visits Lockers frequently, we end with Darkness Revealed. The Trickster gets Aura Reading on all Survivors near Lockers basically on every reload.
