Diablo 4 Altar of Lilith Progress is Retained Between Seasons

You won't need to worry about revisiting all those Altar of Lilith sites every season.

Seasons play a crucial role in the life cycle of action RPGs, providing players with a fresh start to level up, create fresh new characters, and compete for leaderboard rankings. However, some aspects of seasonal resets can also be a bit of a drag, like replaying the campaign for the 10th time or gathering collectibles. Fortunately, Diablo 4 players can breathe a sigh of relief, as it looks like they won’t need to revisit all the Altar of Lilith statues in each new season.

Joseph Piepiora, Associate Game Director at Blizzard, responsible for working on game systems and live service for Diablo 4, says in an interview with Inven:

“As we create sanctuaries, we aim to provide entertainment. Hard resets are planned for each season, but stat points obtained from the Altar of Lilith will not be included in the reset targets.”

Note that the interview questions were answered in English, translated to Korean for Inven, and then translated back to English. That said, some things may get lost in translation or misconstrued. However, the way this translation reads means Altar of Lilith progress is permanent, so you’ll only need to worry about visiting each Altar once per account.

That’s good news for Diablo fans, as finding and activating all the Altars can be time-consuming.

There are 28 Altar of Lilith locations in Fractured Peaks, the first act in Diablo 4. We can assume that translates to well over 100 in the overall game. These Altars grant 10 Renown for the zone in which they are located and either +2 to a primary stat (Strength, Intelligence, Willpower, or Dexterity) or +5 Murmuring Obol capacity.

For instance, finding all the Altars in Fractured Peaks will grant your characters +12 Dexterity, +12 Strength, +12 Willpower, +12 Intelligence, and +20 Obol capacity. Bonuses and locations are fixed for each Altar, and the boosts are applied to all your characters account-wide. However, the Altars do need to be collected separately in Softcore and Hardcore game modes.
