Diablo 4 Rumored to Launch in April 2023

Blizzard may be targeting April 2023 for the Diablo 4 launch.

Diablo 4 is the next highly-anticipated action RPG slated for a 2023 release date. We’ve been slowly getting more information about the next installment of the iconic hack-and-slash franchise from Blizzard sources, and rumors have been piling up. According to the XboxEra Podcast and WindowsCentral, Diablo fans are in for a treat at this year’s annual The Game Awards ceremony.

Fans can expect a new Diablo 4 game trailer, a release date announcement, and pre-orders announced at The Game Awards on December 8. According to these rumors, the launch target for Diablo 4 is April 2023. There is yet to be an exact date at this time, and this target date is speculation based on rumors that Blizzard has yet to confirm.

Early Access and Open Beta are also expected to open in February 2023. Pre-orders will reportedly have a Digital Edition and an Ultimate Edition, the latter of which comes with a physical copy of the game, among other goodies for die-hard Diablo fans.

Diablo 4 is expected to fall under the games-as-a-service category, meaning we’ll see ongoing content updates after launch. That means seasonal content, season passes, and large content updates. According to a recent video with Joe Shely and Rod Fergusson, the team is aiming for around three to four seasons per year.

We also know Diablo 4 will feature microtransactions, which has been a hot topic of debate, especially after the launch of Diablo Immortal. The in-game microtransactions will consist of a Cosmetics Shop and a Season Pass. According to Kegan Clark, director of product for Diablo 4, there will be no pay-for-power options inside the in-game shop.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see if these rumors pan out to be true. The Game Awards will take place on December 8 at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
