If you live for nostalgia or have never gotten the opportunity to play the first few Final Fantasy games, now is your chance as FINAL FANTASY Pixel Remaster is finally releasing on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.  Originally released in 2022 for PC and mobile devices, FINAL FANTASY Pixel Remaster includes the first six FINAL FANTASY games with new and beautiful 2D pixel graphics designed to look great on HD displays.

FINAL FANTASY Pixel Remaster Launch Trailer

The FINAL FANTASY Pixel Remaster series comprises FINAL FANTASY I through FINAL FANTASY VI, giving fans a chance to relive some of the most beloved RPGs of all time in a way that perfectly captures the spirit of those original games. Original composer Nobuo Uematsu has also overseen rearranged soundtracks, and gameplay features have been improved, including modernized user interfaces, auto-battle options, and more.

However, for those that want a true, unvarnished experience like you’re still playing on your SNES, you can have that too. Square Enix really emphasized player choice with this release, and we couldn’t be happier about it.

FINAL FANTASY Pixel Remaster Release Date and Time

FINAL FANTASY Pixel Remaster is set to release on April 19, 2023, for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The official launch time for the game is 8 a.m. PST / 11 a.m. EST / 4 p.m. BST. Players can download the game on Nintendo and PlayStation’s digital storefronts.

What’s New in the PlayStation and Nintendo Versions?

The PS4 and Switch versions of the games have features that make them even more enjoyable to play than before — the option to change soundtracks is one of them. The Pixel Remaster series features new orchestral arrangements of FINAL FANTASY I – VI’s soundtracks, but players can switch between the original and rearranged soundtracks for a different experience.

In addition, players can turn off random encounters to explore in peace, or use the new boost features, which let players adjust the experience gained up to four times. These features are optional, making the games more accessible to players who may have never played a classic FINAL FANTASY game before.
