Hi-Fi RUSH Underperformance Rumors Dismissed by VP at Xbox

Rumors across the gaming community swirled that the highly-acclaimed and fan-favorite Hi-Fi RUSH did not meet Xbox management or sales expectations — but those rumors may be unfounded.

Earlier today, rumors swirled in the gaming community via a video from Jeff Grubb that the highly-rated Hi-Fi RUSH, which was released earlier this year, did not meet Xbox sales expectations. According to Grubb in his Game Mess segment,

Based on what I’ve heard, it straight up just didn’t make the money it needed to make.

This caused the community of gamers who love Hi-Fi RUSH to quickly come to its defense, with many finding the thought that a game of its quality could be “underperforming,” a ludicrous thought, and it appears that Aaron Greenberg, VP of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft, agrees.

According to a recent tweet by Greenberg:

Hi-Fi RUSH was a break out hit for us and our players in all key measurements and expectations. We couldn’t be happier with what the team at Tango Gameworks delivered with this surprise release.

According to a tweet by Bethesda, Hi-Fi RUSH had over 2 million players on March 1, 2023, just a little over a month after it was launched. And, according to the Steam Top Sales charts, it outperformed Forspoken, the AAA game published by Square Enix.
