Diablo 4’s Season of the Malignant introduces powerful new items called Malignant Hearts that players can obtain and equip to enhance their characters’ overall power and build. At the start of this season, one of the most overpowered Hearts is the Caged Heart of the Barber. Finding Wrathful Malignant Hearts is no easy task, so here’s how to find the Caged Heart of the Barber in Diablo 4 Season 1.
How to Find the Barber in Diablo 4
The best way to find a Caged Heart of the Barber in Diablo 4 is by repeatedly running a specific Malignant Tunnel called Ravening Pit and looking for corrupted enemies with the Wrathful affix. When slain, these corrupted monsters will drop a Wrathful Malignant Heart, which has a chance to be the Caged Heart of the Barber.
Alternatively, you could always gamble for the Barber. You can do this by visiting Cormund’s Workbench and crafting Uncertain Hearts. Each Uncertain Heart requires 20 Brutal Ichor, Vicious Ichor, and Devious Ichor. The Uncertain Hearts have a chance to contain a Wrathful Heart. We find the drop chance is extremely low, so this is not a very efficient or reliable method.
Diablo 4 The Barber Farming Guide
Here’s a step-by-step guide to farming the Barber in Diablo 4:
- Travel to the Ravening Pit in the Dry Steppes region and enter the tunnel.
- Run through the zone and look for Corrupted Monsters. Check the Monster Affixes and look for Wrathful (two of the Corrupted Monsters in Ravening Pit are marked with Skulls on the minimap).
- Slay the Wrathful Corrupted Monsters and hope for the Barber.
- Exit the Ravening Pit and reset the dungeon.
- Enter Ravening Pit and repeat the steps until you find the Barber.
You do not need any Invokers for this method or any special items. There are two to three Corrupted Monsters in the initial portion of the Ravening Pit. All you need is some patience and a bit of luck. Wrathful Corrupted Monsters are rarer than Brutal, Vicious, or Devious variants, which makes the Barber a somewhat uncommon find.
If you’re efficient, you can complete a Ravening Pit run in about two minutes. After completing a run, you can press “M” and then “Q” and then click on Reset Dungeons. Speed up your runs by ignoring all monsters that do not have the Wrathful Affix. There’s no need to kill Varshaan, either, if you really want to save time.
What does the Caged Heart of the Barber do in Diablo 4?
The Caged Heart of the Barber is a Wrathful Heart that makes Critical Strikes and all subsequent damage within 2 to 4 seconds be absorbed by the target. At the end of the time, the absorbed damage erupts onto surrounding enemies. All the stored energy is increased every second.
Because of how this Caged Heart works, the Barber is best suited for fast builds. The more damage you can pump onto an enemy within the 2 to 4 second timeframe, the more that damage will benefit from the damage increase before the eruption.
