Tower of Fantasy is a sci-fi MMORPG game with many regional servers. If you’re planning to play with friends, you’ll want to be on the same server. However, servers are broken into many “channels” to reduce congestion, with each Channel containing a limited number of players. In this guide, we’ll show you how to switch channels in Tower of Fantasy.
How to Switch Channels in Tower of Fantasy
To switch Channels in Tower of Fantasy, hold the Alt key on your keyboard and press the Channel button on the top left of the screen while in-game. A Thread Selection screen will pop up, with a text box where you can enter a specific Channel (also called Thread or Line) to join. Enter the Channel of your choice, and hit the blue OK button to switch to that Channel.
After you press OK, your character will “transmit” to the new Channel. When you load into the new Channel, you cannot switch Channels again for 30 minutes. Once the 30 minutes elapses, you’re free to switch over to another Channel.
Now that you know how to switch Channels, you might be wondering about the purpose of this feature.
What are Channels in Tower of Fantasy?
Channels are another word for server layers, lines, instances, or threads. These are subsets of a server that contain a limited number of people. Channels prevent too many players from being in the same game instance, which can drastically reduce lag and improve performance for everyone. Once a channel fills up with players, a new one is created automatically.
One good way to take advantage of layers is by paying attention to world chat, where players will call out world boss spawns by channel name. If you need to kill the flower boss, you can hop to a layer where it’s active if it’s already been killed on your Channel. Of course, it’s more efficient to hop to a new Channel rather than wait for the boss to respawn. You can also switch layers if you finish running a farm route and want a fresh spawn of resources.
