If you’re a big fan of tactical military RTS games, you may have missed the 2020 release of Iron Harvest. Much like similar games in the genre, Iron Harvest is a real-time overhead strategy where you control squadrons of units. The thing that sets it apart? Terrifying Mechs replace the typical tank and vehicles in other military RTS games. Developed by King Art Games and published by Prime Matter and Deep Silver, Iron Harvest is worth checking out for military strategy buffs and fans of mechanized combat.
When is Iron Harvest’s Free Weekend?
Iron Harvest Free Weekend runs from August 18-21, 2022. If you’re impressed and want to scoop the game up for yourself, it’ll be a massive 70% off until the 21st.

A Free Weekend Accompanied by an Update
While the initial response to Iron Harvest was generally good, the game also had its fair share of criticism. Sitting at a Mixed status on the Steam Store, Iron Harvest has, in the past, also experienced some bugs and AI issues.
With that being said, the developers of the game, KING Art Games, are staying active with the community and are developing new content for the game. The latest addition was the multiplayer, World Map Campaign Mode released in June.
In addition to providing a sale and a free weekend, the developers are also adding new maps and updates that may reinvigorate interest in the title. The newest addition to the game is the Archipelago.
The Iron Harvest update also features 4 new starting scenarios, including:
- Us or Them: The single enemy faction in the west is slowly expanding and getting dangerously close to two areas of importance on this archipelago.
- Pioneers: The major factions are in a race to colonize and conquer new lands. Seize as many regions as possible before the other factions take this new territory for themselves.
- Scattered Kingdom: Each faction’s territory is fragmented. You must put down the ongoing uprising and reunite – and potentially expand – the realm.
- Custom: Play your way. Select which faction begins where, their starting strength, difficulty, and victory goals.
If you’re a fan of RTS games, but nothing has excited you recently, you might as well download this one for free this weekend and try out the multiplayer co-op campaigns with your friends.
