Killer Frequency: A Unique Horror Romp by Team17 Announced

Killer Frequency is a genre-bending survival horror game where players assume the role of a DJ trying to save townies from a serial killer.

Killer Frequency, a new detective/FNAF-type horror game, was just announced by Team17, the same developers who created the iconic Worms franchise of games. Recently, the dev team offered a sneak peek of the game to Screenrant, and we’ve got all the details right here for you.

Killer Frequency Release Date and Platforms

Killer Frequency is scheduled to release on June 1, 2023, for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, Nintendo Switch, Meta Quest 2, and PC via Steam.

Killer Frequency Trailer

The short, one-and-a-half-minute trailer gives players a glimpse of some gameplay they’ll experience once the game releases. Players assume the role of Forrest Nash, Gallows Creek resident DJ.

Throughout the game, you’ll need to walk callers through different scenarios to avoid the infamous Whistling Man serial killer, who is on the hunt and thirsty for blood. Undeniably 80s, the game feels like a nostalgia bomb with its cell-shaded VHS aesthetic and synth beats.

Killer Frequency Gameplay and Story

As Nash, it’s your goal to save the townsfolk from death by walking them through different tasks so they can escape the killer. This is mainly done through dialogue windows where the right choice is quite literally a matter of life or death. Sometimes, you’ll need to find different things in the studio to help answer correctly, so this is more of a decision-making and puzzle game.

Killer Frequency seems like something resembling a fish-out-of-water narrative, as Forrest Nash, our protagonist, recently took up this job and is currently hosting a segment called The Scream on the local radio station KFAM. With the local sheriff completely unresponsive, it’s left to Nash to help the town’s citizens.

With all this happening in the background, it’s funny that the game doesn’t let you forget you’re a DJ, and you’ll need to spin those sick beats throughout the entire endeavor. If anything, the game sounds like a fresh but nostalgic take on horror that we can’t wait to try for ourselves.
