Square Enix Games has announced that the classic Super Famicom RPG LIVE A LIVE will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Originally released in Japan in 1994 for the SNES, LIVE A LIVE features a unique gameplay style where players control multiple characters across different periods, from the prehistoric to the future, and all genres, including sci-fi, western, and martial arts. Originally released for the Nintendo Switch in 2022, the creators of the game, Square Enix, recently announced the game’s release to PC and PlayStation via their blog.
LIVE A LIVE PC and PlayStation Release Date
The iconic RPG, LIVE A LIVE, will be released on April 27, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. PlayStation Plus members and those that pre-order the game on Steam will receive a 20% discount.
A playable demo on the PlayStation Store is also available.
LIVE A LIVE Gameplay and Story
The game’s story is divided into eight tales, each with a different protagonist, setting, and gameplay mechanics. Players will start in the prehistoric era, where they control a caveman who must battle against other tribes and fierce animals. The subsequent chapters include a futuristic sci-fi setting, a western-style story with a gunfighter, and a martial arts tale set in Imperial China.
In each chapter, players must use different strategies and tactics to overcome the challenges and enemies they encounter, with their own unique mechanics and story.
The re-release features the same HD-2D visual style as the popular Octopath Traveller 2 and a new, rearranged soundtrack by the original composer, Yoko Shimomura.
