New Twisted Metal Series Looks Horrid

A scene from the upcoming Twisted Metal series showcased the titular Sweet Tooth but made the show look bad and not in a good way.

While a ton of announcements happened at Summer Game Fest 2023, one portion of the show captured viewers’ imaginations, but not for the reasons they probably intended. Will Arnett (Arrested DevelopmentBoJack Horsemen) introduced a clip of the upcoming Twisted Metal series set to premiere on the streaming platform Peacock on July 27, 2023.

The Twisted Metal TV series is an American post-apocalyptic action comedy executive produced by Michael Jonathan Smith. It’s based on the long-running PlayStation franchise known for its action-packed, over-the-top vehicular combat games. The series will star Anthony Mackie, known for his role as Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While the show looks to be attempting something resembling comedy, the short clip they showed did anything but make people laugh. Watch it below.

Though the official synopsis of the show describes it as a high-octane action comedy, we think it looks pretty cringe so far, if we’re honest. The jokes just don’t really hit the way they should, and it’s pretty strange since Will Arnett’s voice is so iconic, and the actor playing Sweet Tooth is clearly not Will Arnett. It almost comes off as a parody, which could be funny, but it’s not — so it’s just sad instead, especially because both actors are so iconic and talented.
