PAYDAY 3 Drops New Trailer Teasing Another Trailer

Those waiting eagerly for more information on the upcoming PAYDAY 3 title may be disappointed by this recent announcement.

We’ve now reached the pinnacle of hype, as developers of the PAYDAY franchise, Starbreeze Studios, just launched a 20-second trailer showcasing, well — not much from the upcoming title. Yes, indeed, according to a Steam blog update from the creators, this is to prime gamers in preparation for another gameplay reveal trailer coming this summer.

While we’re not ones to knock marketing campaigns, this seems pretty strange, considering it’s a trailer hyping up the release of, not an early access or beta version of the game, but another gameplay trailer that the creators are working on.

However, it shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise, as the trailer released earlier in the year showed off more, but not much more.

A Studio Marred in Controversy

While it would be easy to just sit back and chuckle at the lack of content in the trailer or ponder why the creators of the game even decided to publish it, things become a bit more clear when you learn more about the game’s developers, Starbreeze Studios.

With a multitude of legal and financial issues over the past decade, including a high-profile raid on their Swedish offices for alleged insider trading, the studio itself has struggled to keep afloat. This is even with PAYDAY 2, their flagship title, being wildly popular on Steam, reaching over 200,000 concurrent users at its peak.

Because of the public struggles, many wondered whether a PAYDAY 3 would ever come to fruition, so perhaps this is just a strong signal by the developers to let people know that the game is indeed being developed and will be launched sometime in the future.

While only time will tell whether the title will reach the popularity of previous entries in the franchise is yet to be seen. We’ll be following along closely in our news section
