Pokemon GO players have a new Team GO Rocket-focused Battle Weekend Challenge event to participate in as part of the game’s sixth-anniversary celebrations. Below, we’ve listed out all of the Pokemon GO Battle Weekend Challenge Timed Research tasks and rewards. These are separate from the Special Research tasks, which entail catching and purifying Shadow Pokemon and defeating all of Team GO Rocket.
The Pokemon GO Battle Weekend Challenge Research separates tasks into three groups. Seeing how it’s a Team GO Rocket-focused event, players can battle Team GO Rocket grunts, leaders (Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra), and big boss-man Giovanni. The event introduces Shadow Latios, who you’ll be facing off against and have a chance to rescue during the Giovanni encounter. The tasks branch off in the second step, so players can also opt to complete GO Battle League-related tasks instead.
Pokemon GO Battle Weekend Challenge Research Tasks and Rewards
Task 1 of 3
- Power up a Pokemon 15 times: rewards a Machop encounter
- Use a Charged TM: rewards a Fast TM
- Evolve 3 Pokemon: rewards one Charged TM
- Rewards: 1,000 Stardust, 2,500 Stardust, Premium Battle Pass
After completing the first set of timed research, players can select Raids, Grunts, and Gyms or Go Battle League.
Task 2 of 3
Raids, Grunts, and Gyms
- Battle in a Gym 5 times: rewards 5 Rare Candy
- Use Supereffective Charged Attacks in 10 Gym Battles: rewards a Galarian Stunfisk
- Battle in 2 Raids: rewards 2,500 XP
- Win 2 Raids: rewards a Swinub encounter
- Defeat 3 Team Go Rocket Grunts: rewards 2,500 Stardust
- Defeat 3 Team Go Rocket Leaders: rewards Beldum encounter
- Rewards: 1 Lucky Egg, 1 Star Piece, Chansey encounter
Go Battle League
- Battle a Trainer in the Great League 5 times: rewards 5 Rare Candy
- Win a Great League Trainer Battle: rewards a Galarian Stunfisk encounter
- Battle in the Go Battle League 10 times: rewards 2,500 XP
- Win 2 Trainer Battles in the Go Battle League: rewards a Swinub Encounter
- Battle in the Go League 20 times: rewards 2,500 Stardust
- Achieve Rank 5 in the Go Battle League: rewards a Beldum encounter
- Rewards: 1 Lucky Egg, 1 Star Piece, Chansey encounter
Task 3 of 3
- Claim rewards: 25 Poke Balls, 15 Great Balls, 10 Ultra Balls
- Rewards: Charizard encounter
Pokemon GO Battle Weekend takes place from July 9 to July 10, 2022, at 10 a.m. server time.
