Nintendo Switch traditionally releases new games at midnight Eastern Time (9 p.m. PT), so we expect Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be no different. Depending on where you are in the United States, that translates to the following times:
- East Coast: 12 a.m. ET

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will take place in an open world, set in the Paldea region of the Pokemon Universe. The game introduces three brand-new starter Pokemon: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. Two new legendary Pokemon also make their debut, Koraidon, and Miraidon.
As the game’s world is expected to be quite large, players can traverse the lands with the help of Koraidon, Miraidon, and Cyclizar. A new feature called “Let’s Go” will also allow players to send out Pokemon to the overworld and battle wild Pokemon.
Finally, Terastal is a new feature in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Trainers can Terastallize their Pokemon using a Tera Orb. Upon using the Tera Orb, it loses its Terastal Energy and cannot be used again until charged. Each Pokemon has a hidden “Tera Type,” which can be any of the 18 types, allowing for a huge range of combos. Terastallized Pokemon essentially have two benefits:
- A boost to moves matching your Tera Type
- Change in Weaknesses
