A picture of the upcoming Access Controller from Sony PlayStation is all you need to understand why it’s making waves in the gaming community. For the past five years, the Sony peripheral team has been working to develop a controller that could enable gamers with disabilities to play games more comfortably. The new controller will become available later this year, on December 6, 2023, with preorders opening on Friday, July 21, 2023, for an MSRP of $89.99.
The controller features remappable buttons, different control profiles, stick settings, and more. Sony embarked on a mission to make the controller accessible to everyone, with preference and modulation taking center stage.
What’s interesting, however, is how the overall gaming community will react to the controller — as it may suit all players regardless of their backgrounds, depending on how they use it.
