Rust Patch Notes for March 2 Introduces Flying Drones, CCTV, and More

You can now watch your base from your phone.

The Rust Patch Notes for March 2, 2023, “Eye in the Sky” update, introduces player-controlled Flying Drones, CCTV, and C4 players can detonate remotely.

Today’s Rust patch added a few new things, enhanced some of the recent Industrial tweaks, and fixed many bugs. Let’s hop into the Rust update and what changed this month.

Rust Patch Notes for March 2

The Rust patch update on March 2, 2023, introduced the following changes:

  • Added Player-Controlled Drones
  • Added RF Detonated C4
  • Added PTZ Security Camera
  • Added Player-Controlled Turret
  • Introduced CCTV From Your Mobile Device for Rust+ App
  • Industrial Improvements

Players can now craft their own controllable Drones to scope out enemy bases without the threat of getting their watermelon split. You’ll have to unlock from the Tier 2 Workbench tech tree, and it requires a Computer Station nearby to work.

C4 can now be remotely detonated from the safety of your sniper tower by coupling it with an RF Broadcaster. Players can select the C4 and set it to a frequency, then set their detonator to the same frequency. Once the C4 detects the signal, it will explode.

PTZ Security Camera is a player-controlled security camera that can be adjusted to keep an eye out for things in the safety of your build. The power requirement for all cameras has also been reduced from 5 to 3.

The PTZ can be unlocked via the Tier 2 Workbench tech tree.

Turrets got a lot more accurate as players can now control them via the Computer Station. Be warned, objects in the far distance will be harder to see so that the turret isn’t overpowered.

Players can now access CCTV cameras, including Drone Cameras, from their mobile devices using the Rust+ App. This functionality will only be available on certain servers, and players may have to wait for the update to become available in their region on the app store. Rust+ is currently on Google Play and the iOS App Store

There were some tweaks and enhancements made to the recent Industrial Update, including the following changes:

  • Added Conveyor filtering options, Maximum, Minimum, and Buffer.
  • Reduction of the minimum distance between pipe points. This will result in neater pipe placements.
  • Industrial Crafter now has 4 Blueprint slots.
  • Max size of Industrial networks increased from 16 to 32.

Lastly, Vending Machines will now drop 50% of their loot when destroyed, creating an incentive to bust up those random Vending Machines on your server.
