Sony has just revealed the DualSense Edge controller, a new peripheral for the PlayStation 5 that’s been said to be one of the most advanced controllers for a console ever made. But does it live up to the hype? Here’s what we know about the new Sony peripheral, including the Sony DualSense Edge controller release date and price.
Sony DualSense Edge Controller Release Date and Price
The new Sony DualSense Edge controller will be released in January 2023 and will initially be sold for $199.99. Pre-orders for the controller will begin at select retailers as early as October 25, 2022. The new Sony peripheral includes additional customization options, user profiles, and a special charging case.
What Makes the DualSense Edge Controller Better?
The controller features a new design that is similar to the current DualShock controller but with a few key differences. The most notable difference is the addition of special swappable paddles on the back of the controller that can be mapped to different functions to help players level up their game.
In addition, players will be able to fine-tune almost every aspect of the controller, including dead zones, trigger sensitivity, locking placement of triggers, and even creating unique user profiles.
While some players may balk at the price tag of the DualSense Edge controller, which is set to retail for $199 when it releases in January, there is much that this controller offers.
On top of being able to fully customize the entire controller, including button caps, mappable buttons, sensitivities, and more, it also comes packaged with a special carrying case. It can be charged directly inside the case. This means gamers can always be ready to go whenever they have time to play. In addition, this also makes sharing the controller much easier, as each player can have a special account that will automatically set the controller to their preferred settings.
With these changes, players will be able to take much more control over their games than ever before, which should lead to increased performance and ease of play when the controller releases early next year.
