Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is getting RTS players excited for the upcoming title with a new promotional campaign reminiscent of games of the past.
With today’s levels of CGI and cinematic capabilities, it’s not often that we see games use real actors for their in-game cinematics. Arguably the most memorable time a game did this was in the Command & Conquer series of games, which gave the series its feeling of camp (in a good way).
The upcoming RTS, Terminator Dark Fate – Defiance, is giving players a decent dose of nostalgia with their ongoing YouTube mini-series/promotional videos as part of their Report from the Frontlines series.
The game’s developers, Slitherine, take us through a journey of the human resistance, ramping up the hype train for the game when it releases in Q4 of 2023.
Here’s the first episode as part of the super-short 3 part series:
If you want to learn a bit more about the gameplay and story, Slitherine did a pretty thorough 1-hour livestream explaining what players can expect when the game releases, which you can watch below:
With both single-player and multiplayer PvP modes, there hasn’t been a notable PvP RTS released in quite a while. In the past, Command and Conquer was a big enough game to rival the titan in the genre, Starcraft, but since then, there haven’t been many notable pure RTS titles.
While it’s unlikely that it will reach the heights that Starcraft 2 reached, it should serve as a fun RTS experience for those missing out on real-time strategy games.
