Unholy, a first-person psychological horror game, will be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest.
Unholy is a product of the collaboration between HOOK, an indie label, and Polish developer Duality Games, and follows the story of a mother’s search for her missing son in a run-down, unwelcoming post-soviet town. The game offers a unique blend of exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat mechanics, allowing players to traverse between reality and a twisted Unholy world to uncover the terrifying truth. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming indie horror game.
Unholy Release Date and Platforms
Unholy will release on July 20, 2023, and will initially be available for PC, with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X versions to follow later, according to HOOK, the game’s developers.
Unholy Trailer
The minute-long Unholy trailer showcases some of the scares and thrills players will experience when the game releases later this summer. A first-person horror game, players are thrust into a dark and disturbing world called the Spring of Eternity.
Unholy Gameplay and Features
The game features two parallel worlds to explore – the grey and cold reality of a brutalist post-soviet Eastern European town and the creepy and twisted world of Unholy, a grotesque society ruled by a relentless priest caste. A deep, dark narrative storyline drives the gameplay, and players can use four different emotions: anger, shock, sadness, and desire to interact with the environment or to confuse, lure, or damage their opponents.
Players can build their own masks to gain new skills and improve their abilities or wear other masks to infiltrate and confuse their enemies. It’ll be interesting to see how this innovative gameplay mechanic will work in this upcoming horror title.
Unholy Demo Details
A playable demo of Unholy is now live on Steam, giving horror fans a chance to experience the game ahead of its official release. The Unholy demo will also be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest from June 19-26.
