Across the Obelisk Heiner Build: Deck & Perks

Here's our Across the Obelisk Heiner decks and build, including the best cards, perks, and items to put on this ranged damage dealer.

Heiner is a tank hero in Across the Obelisk that excels at applying debuffs to enemies, helping the team with survival through shields and card draw, and being an all-around solid frontline damage sponge. Due to his playstyle, Heiner is an easy-to-play hero who goes well with any team composition. Below, we’ll look at what we think is the best Heiner build in Across the Obelisk, including deck setups for early and late game, talents, perks, and items.

If you don’t know how to get this character, check out our guide on how to unlock Heiner in Across the Obelisk.

Best Heiner Talents

The best talents for Heiner are:

Level 1: Unbreakable adds 10 Block to all heroes and 2 Fortify to Heiner himself. You should get Fortify to optimize this skill, so the shield maintains on all heroes to the next round.

Level 2: Steel Forge adds a copy of the “Steel Forge” card to your deck, which grants +3 Block flat, plus 3 Block and 1 Fortify on all heroes whenever you block (8 charges).

Level 3: Defense Mastery causes the Defense cards in your hand to cost 1 less until discarded.

Level 4: While Last Guardian is a good move, Fusion Laser is much better. Fusion Laser Deals 7 Fire damage and applies 3 Burn and 1 Vulnerable to all monsters for every energy a card costs that you play (3 charges).

Level 5: Tireless gives +1 Energy regeneration and makes Heiner immune to Fatigue, so this is our pick. Indomitable is a decent option, but he doesn’t need shields for this build.

Best Heiner Decks

The Heiner decks listed below are designed to support the team with shields, vulnerable charges, and card draw. There are many ways to play Heiner, and a different playstyle is to build him for more shield charges and things like Shield Charge. However, there are much better damage-dealing heroes, so I believe this is the most efficient way to play Heiner.

Best Heiner Perks

The best Heiner perk setup is 33 General, 14 Physical, and 3 Elemental.

General tree:

The general tree for Heiner is straightforward — get as much speed as you need to go in the proper order for your team composition, throw some points in energy, spend a point in Mark for your Intimidate if you can spare it, and put the rest into the starting resources.

Physical tree:

The heart of this Heiner build lies in the Block column of the Physical tree. Pick up all the Block options to make the most out of your cards, and make sure you and another teammate pick up the first, second, and maybe third Vulnerable perks for Fusion Laser. Fortify is also incredibly important because your team will run out of shield on turn two or three without it.

Elemental tree:

Finally, you can’t go wrong by starting with an extra card. We recommend throwing a perk in Inspire.

Best Heiner Items

The best Heiner items are:

  • Weapon: Iron Kanabo, Venom Fang
  • Armor: Bastion, The Wall, Kite Shield, Heater Shield
  • Ring: Amulet of Protection, Stone Amulet
  • Accessory: Warrior Code
  • Pets: Sharpy, Chompy, Oculy

That’s the best Heiner build in Across the Obelisk right now. There’s some experimentation that can be done in terms of perk distribution, so feel free to test some things out and let us know how it goes in the comments below.
