Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera Servers to Shutter in September

Players predicted it, and now COD fans are mad about the shuttering of Caldera.

In a significant announcement for the Call of Duty community, the developers have confirmed that Call of Duty Warzone Caldera will cease operations on September 21, 2023. This decision is part of the team’s focus on future Call of Duty content, including the ongoing Warzone free-to-play experience.

Since its launch, Warzone Caldera has provided players that enjoy the original Warzone experience, but as the game evolves, the team has stated they will focus on Warzone 2 and work to develop that game to gain a larger player base and bring old players back.

Players that purchased content in Warzone Caldera – from Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War, or Vanguard will continue to have access to the content in those specific games.

It’s important to note that the Warzone Caldera shutdown will not impact current Warzone gameplay, inventory, or player progression in Al Mazrah or the other available maps.

Some in the community voiced their displeasure with the move, especially those that bought skins and bundles specifically for the title. Whether this points to a new trend of Activision shuttering old Call of Duty games is yet to be seen, but we’ll keep you updated as more details emerge.
