Dead by Daylight Patch Notes (November 22)

New Killer: Tarhos Kovacs, The Knight

The Knight is a map-control Killer from the late Middle Ages. His Power, Guardia Compagnia, lets him deploy Guards to patrol the map and chase Survivors that come too close. They can also be sent out to attack Pallets, Breakable Walls, and Generators.

The Knight comes with 3 Perks focused on revealing and debuffing Survivors.

The Knight’s Perks

Below you’ll find all of the new Perks for the new Killer, The Knight.

Nowhere to Hide

Reveal the Auras of all Survivors within 24m after completing the “Damage Generator” Action. Auras last for 3/4/5 seconds.

Hex: Face the Darkness

Injuring a Survivor activates Hex: Face the Darkness if there is a Dull Totem still on the map. The injured Survivor is Cursed. The other Survivors will scream every 35/30/35 seconds if outside the Killer’s Terror Radius, revealing their Auras for 2 seconds each time. The Perk deactivates if the Cursed Survivor leaves the Injured state to become Healthy or Dying. Cleansing the Hex Totem disables the perk for the rest of the Trial.

This Perk was confusing to read in its original description, so they’ve rewritten it and made it more consistent in how often it reveals Survivors. Also, now that the Cursed Survivor isn’t revealed, it’s harder to know where The Knight is to safely search for the associated Hex Totem. We thought this was a no-brainer pick on Stealth Killers, but others may benefit too now.

Hubris

When Stunned by a Survivor, that Survivor is Exposed for 10/15/20 seconds. Hubris has a 20 second cool-down after the Exposed Status ends.

Power Changes

  • Guards appear after 1.5 seconds (was 2 seconds)
  • Guards take 2.5 seconds to travel to where they detected a Survivor (was 3 seconds)
  • A Guard’s detection radius maxes out after 1 second (was 1.5 seconds)
  • The Carnifex’s banner activates after 10 seconds (originally 8 seconds)
  • The Jailer and Assassin’s banner activates after 5 seconds (originally 2 seconds)

The Knight’s Power, Guardia Compagnia, has gotten some quality of life changes. The Knight’s allies are meant to complement the Knight’s Chasing power rather than replace it, but they were too weak in their original form. Guards are now more responsive when summoned into the Trial. Survivors will also have to last longer in a chase for the chance to remove them.

Add-on Changes

  • Map of the Realm: Increases Guard vision by 4 meters (originally 6 meters)
  • Flint and Steel: Only grants Aura Reading around unbroken dropped Pallets
  • Healing Poultice: Now causes Survivors to scream when the Assassin is summoned nearby (originally worked if they were far away)
  • Knight’s Contract: Increased range up to 12 meters (originally 8 meters)

The Knight’s Add-ons were changed too, and it’s not all good news. The Flint and Steel Add-on in particular was heavily nerfed. This granted Aura Reading potential stronger than most Perks, so we’re not surprised.

New Survivor: Vittorio Toscano

Tarhos’ former employer also enters the Fog. He’s a pacifist researcher who, like Tarhos, is searching for a perfect world.

Vittorio comes with 3 Perks centered on Generator Repairs.

Vittorio Toscano’s Perks

Below you’ll find all of the new Perks for the new Survivor, Vittorio Toscano.

Potential Energy

After Repairing for 12/10/8 uninterrupted seconds, press the Active Ability button to activate Potential Energy.

Further Repairs will grant Tokens to Potential Energy instead of Repairing the Generator. 1.5% Generator Progress is worth 1 Token, 20 can be held at once. Missing Skill Checks removes Tokens.

When Potential Energy has at least 1 Token, press the Activate Ability button while Repairing to consume all Tokens, granting 1% Generator Progress per Token and deactivating the Perk. Potential Energy loses all Tokens and deactivates upon losing a Health State.

Fogwise: Succeeding a Great Skill Check while Repairing a Generator reveals the Killer’s aura to that Survivor for 4/5/6 seconds.

Quick Gambit: When being Chased within 24 meters of a Generator being Repaired, increase the Repair Speed of the Repairing Survivors by 6/7/8%.

New Map: The Shattered Square

This ruined medieval village has been tweaked since the PTB. The red fog has been lessened so Killers can track properly, and Pallets and Hooks are more distinct. The map is mostly open, but a few buildings still stand, including the Gathering Hall.

Altered Flashlight Timing

  • More generous buffer period on Flashlight Saves
  • Fixed bug with overly generous buffer period

The Flashlight Save buffer period has been increased because its duration is affected by latency. They also fixed a bug that causes Blinds during any point during the Pickup Animation to count for the Save. Glad they caught that before release, it would have been Lightborn a mandatory Perk.

We’re glad to see The Knight and Vittorio join the roster. The full patch notes are available here.
