Dead Cells Goes Next-Gen, Releases on PS5 June 29

The hit roguelike title, with over 10 million sales, is making its way to PlayStation 5.

Developers Evil Empire and Motion Twin have announced that the digital PS5 version of Dead Cells will launch on June 29, 2023, for $24.99. The game will be free for PS Plus Extra subscribers and as a free upgrade for PlayStation 4 owners.

Dead Cells PlayStation 5 Exclusive Features

The PS5 version of Dead Cells introduces haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The DualSense controller will push back if you try to use an item that’s on cooldown, providing a smart assist for strategy changes during combat.

There will be other feedback-related updates to the version of the game that should hopefully enhance gameplay. Additional lights and sound effects from the DualSense controller will also contribute to atmospheric immersion.

Dead Cells PS5 Physical Retail Launch

While the digital PS5 version of Dead Cells is set to launch this month, the physical retail version is slated for release on August 11, 2023. Evil Empire and Motion Twin have partnered with Merge Games for a series of Signature edition physical launch versions of Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania

These editions will include goodies such as a reversible retro cover, outer sleeve, enamel pins, an art booklet, and more. Both Standard and Signature editions of Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania will include all of the game’s DLC.
