Destiny 2 Destination Materials Removed from Game in Season 19

How will the Destiny 2 Destination Materials removal change the game?

Destiny 2 is making a change in Season 19 that will remove all Destination Materials from the game. Players use these materials for legacy exotics, mods, Enhancement Prisms, and other specific items. In a recent blog post, Bungie outlined the change and explained that the decision was made to streamline the game and make it more new-player friendly.

How the Removal of Destination Materials Will Affect Destiny 2

Players must rely on other methods and materials to upgrade their gear without Destination Materials. Bungie has stated that the most likely solution is to replace the needed Destination Materials with Legendary Shards. Players can easily obtain these by dismantling any pieces of gear they do not need.

In fact, players who have been playing for a long time generally have a stockpile of these Legendary Shards. Ultimately, this could be a good thing to help give them more of a use in the future of Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 Destination Materials include:

  • Glacial Starwort
  • Spinmetal Leaves
  • Dusklight Shards
  • Helium Filaments
  • Microphasic Datalattice
  • Baryon Boughs

How Destiny 2 Players Can Prepare

Of course, with the impending changes coming with the start of Season 19, which should launch in December, players will want to know what they should do to prepare.

The good news is players can now trade Destination Shards into Master Rahool in the Tower to gain Glimmer, which they can then spend on other items.

These changes to Destiny 2 will be welcome–as there are many different resources to manage, which can confuse newer players. Especially with the New Light experience not being the best method of teaching players about the game, anything that can make Destiny 2 more accessible will be great for the growth and stability of the community.
