Diablo IV had a spectacular launch earlier this month, with millions of players purchasing the game and creating a character in the Sanctuary. However — not everything was perfect, and there were still, as with any new release, some bugs that made the game a bit less enjoyable. And no, I’m not talking about the recent DDoS attacks that have been preventing many from playing of late; I’m talking about a deep-cut bug that most of you probably had to experience at one point or another.
The bug I’m talking about is the hidden chat window bug. As with most ARPGs, Diablo IV is all about vigorously clicking, and opening the chat window at the inopportune time could mean the difference between life and death. Worse case scenario is that you’re in Hardcore Mode, which could mean losing hours and hours of your precious playtime. In a recent June 28, 2023 update for Diablo IV, the developers write:
Fixed an issue where Chat could be expanded even when the Chat is not visible.
At first, I thought this was me — my burly Druid would be going along, clicking demons to death while spamming my main attack move as suddenly the chat window pops up, and all I can type are the number keys, frantically trying to cast my Earthen Bulwark to prevent myself from dying or spamming qqqqqq in the chat window. The most frustrating thing? I’m usually in Discord with my friends, so I never have a chat open. If it’s happened to you, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
In addition to this nice update, most of the classes seem to have gotten a buff on many attack moves, and XP and rewards for certain questlines have also increased. All in all, it looks like a solid update and proves that Blizzard is listening to fans of the game, at least to some extent.
