Final Fantasy XVI Sells Over 3 Million Copies

Final Fantasy XVI launched exclusively for PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023, and has been met with critical acclaim.

In a recent announcement, Square Enix revealed that the recently-released action RPG, Final Fantasy XVI, has already surpassed three million copies in global shipments and digital sales. This is a pretty amazing announcement, and it rivals other huge AAA sequels released earlier in the year, including Diablo IV and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Final Fantasy XVI introduces players to the realms of Valisthea, a land teetering on the brink of chaos due to political factions and ancient evil forces. The game’s protagonist, Clive Rosfield, finds himself amid this turmoil with a queen who will stop at nothing to claim the throne.

A Taste of the Adventure with the Demo

For those yet to embark on this epic journey, Square Enix has released a demo allowing players to experience the game’s prologue. This gives players a chance to engage in thrilling battles and test out a variety of devastating attacks and combos.

Players can get the Final Fantasy XVI on the PlayStation Store

Final Fantasy XVI is currently available digitally for the PlayStation 5 console, with physical Deluxe and Standard Editions available for purchase through select retailers.

Selling three million total copies in such a short time is truly an accomplishment, especially as the game is a PlayStation-exclusive release, but we’ll have to wait to see what the final numbers are and how it stacks up against Final Fantasy games of the past.
