We’re currently running around Ghost Song on New Game + searching for the new miniboss the devs teased. We haven’t found them yet, but we thought this would be a good time to cover the boss of Six-Finger Woods. She’s tough, she’s loud, and she’s honestly annoying to fight. Read ahead for our Ghost Song Boss Fight Guide for the Old Singer.
Defeating Old Singer provides the player with the Whistle Shock Suit Module, which adds Electrical Damage to unarmed melee attacks.
Ghost Song: Defeating Old Singer
To beat the Old Singer, defeat the Bradley Wells miniboss to obtain the Chill Crumbler. Then, locate Old Singer in Six-Finger Woods, and use a combination of jumping, dashing, and slashing with the Chill Crumbler to take them down to low health. When they leave the room, exit, and re-enter it, and Old Singer will still be damaged. Finish them with a few more blasts to grab the Whistle Shock Suit Module. For step-by-step instructions, keep reading.
Old Singer Location
Old Singer is located in Six-Finger Woods. It’s on the left edge of the map on the surface level. Going from the game start location, head left (past Lisette Tal’s area) until you reach a small wall. Players can get over this with either the Boost Boosts from Huttle Drop, or the Phase Dash from Nosberg Laboratory.
We need the Coburn Launcher from near the Crash Site to enter the Six-Finger Woods, but don’t feel forced to come here immediately. Go for the other parts for Gambler and come back to this with more levels and Modules.
Preparing for the Fight
Before we try to kill the Old Singer, we need to prepare. The good news is she’s easier to reach than the other bosses, so we can leave and come back later. The bad news is the best weapon for fighting Old Singer is past her second encounter, dropped from a miniboss.
Past the second encounter, in a pool of water, is the miniboss Bradley Wells of the Tellru Mining Company. He’s slow, and his only attack is telegraphed by aiming. Just keep pulling Bradley to the left of the screen until you reach the blocks needed to exit the pool. Crouch and fire at Bradley here; back up if he starts firing back. Upon death, Bradley will drop the Chill Crumbler Blaster Module. Quit to the Main Menu to get back to the Woods save point quickly.
There’s 5 other items that help in this fight; we’ll cover them quickly:
- Boost Boots: Found in the Huttle Drop. Staying off the ground is crucial; this item helps.
- Molly’s Tweak Suit Module: Located in the Crash Site. Exhaust Molly’s dialogue daily and deliver 2 parts. This locks the Chill Crumbler in its stronger fire mode
- Liferun Suit Module: Found in First Encounter with Old Singer, in the back of the room. Most of Old Singer’s rooms give us space to run and recharge our Energy.
- Lord’s Insight Suit Module: Found in Bill’s store at the Crash Site. Old Singer has a special mechanic that triggers at low health. We need to know when this is coming.
- Motivator: Located in Lupoto, near the entrance to Roslock Drift Alpha. We need this to Sprint and activate Liferun.
Fighting the Old Singer
Like Elsom the Ogre before her, Old Singer is a monster in close combat. When she lands on the ground it deals damage if we stay on the floor, so jump often. Her attacks include jumping into the air and slashing at us at close range. Like Elsom, we dodge by jumping and Phase Dashing, then counter-attacking.
Aim for the head for more damage. After a few seconds, Old Singer will electrify herself. She now deals more damage in a wider area, so play safe when evading.
Fight her in the first room, the one at the top of Six-Finger Woods, for the best results. There are only 2 basic enemies there, and they’re easier to work around. Attack Old Singer with the Chill Crumbler and standard blaster, using the Sprint to replenish Energy. When she leaves, exit, and re-enter the room, the damage we’ve dealt will stay until we save. You can still enter the save room to touch the healing flowers.
Save your Energy when her health is down to one-third. Once her health bar is at 20%, Old Singer will repeatedly scream and stand in place before trying to retreat. We can deal some extra damage here, maybe even get the kill. Her scream steals Energy, so use it first. If she doesn’t die fast enough, she will jump away. We have to convince her to come back. Shut down the Deadsuit, wait for the musical sting/falling rocks, and wake up ASAP. You’ll probably get hit, so top off your health with Healing Cores first.
When Old Singer finally falls, she drops the Whistle Shock Suit Module. This adds Electrical Damage to unarmed melee attacks.
That was our Ghost Song Boss Fight Guide for the Old Singer. We wish you luck in fighting her.
