The publishers of the highly-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong recently announced that the game’s release date might be pushed back.
Players waiting for the stylized side-scrolling action that is the upcoming game, Hollow Knight: Silksong, may have to wait just a bit longer for the developers of the game, Team Cherry, to put the final touches on what may ultimately become (if anything like the original Hollow Knight), an iconic side-scrolling video game title.
According to Matthew Griffin of Team Cherry in a recent tweet:
We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We’re excited by how the game is shaping up, and it’s gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can.
While the release date has yet to be confirmed, Team Cherry has confirmed the game’s release on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, opening the title up to a much wider audience of gamers.
For the most part, it seems the community has taken the news pretty well — as a multitude of recently botched titles and lackluster releases, including the recent Arkane Austin project, Redfall, has failed to meet gamers’ expectations.
Rather than rushing a game and pressuring already overworked developers into releasing an unfinished mess, it seems that the independent development company is taking a “quality” approach to its process.
While it may be disappointing to some that they’ll have to wait a few more months to play the upcoming sequel to the iconic Metrodvania game, most would agree they would rather wait than play something that isn’t up to the franchise’s standards.
