With the release of Overwatch 2 on October 4, 2022, right on the horizon, many gamers are wondering if Overwatch 2 will be both cross-platform and cross-progression. While the original Overwatch did not support these features, it looks like this highly-requested feature will debut with the newest addition in the Overwatch series. If you’re wondering, “is Overwatch 2’s cross-platform and cross-progression systems?” we’ve got your answer.
Is Overwatch 2 Cross Platform?
According to the official Overwatch website, cross-progression and cross-play will be available for Overwatch 2. In addition, with Overwatch 2 going free-to-play, fans can easily download and play the game on any compatible system they own.
One of the most requested features for Overwatch has always been the ability for players to have cross-platform gameplay as well as cross-progress. This is because Overwatch was available for many different platforms, including the Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and even eventually ported to the Nintendo Switch. But unfortunately for fans of the game, Overwatch never got these features since its release in 2016.
Thankfully, however, Blizzard is listening to player feedback this time around. This means that all of the player’s hard-earned cosmetics, ranks, and stats will be able to follow them no matter what system they choose to play on.
Keeping Things Fresh With Cross-Play
With the game moving in a new direction to the free-to-play model, there should be many more players joining the fray. With cross-play included, players should have an easier time finding matches and meeting new friends in Overwatch 2.
Fans of the game can pick up Overwatch 2 and try out any of its exciting heroes when the game releases on October 4, 2022.
