Octopath Traveler 2: Job Guild and Altar Locations

Octopath Traveler 2 is a great RPG. We’re thoroughly enjoying the writing and mechanics and wanted to help answer some questions for other players exploring the beautiful world of Solistia. So, here is our Octopath Traveler 2 guide on Job Guilds and Altars.

Octopath Traveler 2 Job Guilds & Challenges

Job Guilds can be joined simply by finding the Guild in the world. The problem is that the enemies are in the way and are too strong for a starting party. I’d suggest getting a full 4-man team of level 15 characters first.

Once you find a Job Guild, you’ll get 1 License for that job. To get more Licenses, each Guild (except Inventor) has extra challenges to complete. Some of these challenges will mention a Divine Skill. These are the last Skill a Job can learn. 

Western Continent

  • Warrior – Sai, Hinoeuma. It’s in the Northeast corner, housed in a large dojo.
  • Extra Licenses Challenges – Learn the Warrior’s Divine Skill on one character, then another.
  • Dancer – Wellgrove, Leaflands. It’s to the North, near the entrance to the Estate, in a small house.
  • Extra Licenses Challenges – Learn the Dancer’s Divine Skill on one character, then another.
  • Apothecary – Conning Creek, Harborlands. It’s Southeast of the town entrance, down an unpaved path.
  • Extra Licenses Challenges – Find 3 Herb-Of-Grace Buds, then 3 Primal Horn Elixirs. These are rare monster drops.
  • Merchant – Western Crackridge Wilds, Wildlands. Cross a narrow land bridge going west, and continue West into a small camp.
  • Extra Licenses Challenges – Buy the other Licenses for 100,000 and 300,000 Leaves.
  • Inventor – Eastern New Delsta Highroad, Brightlands. Go Southeast from the North Exit. Inventor can only be held by one character at a time.

Eastern Continent

  • Cleric – Borderfall, Crestlands. Take the path leading Northwest, and you’ll find a small building.
  • Extra Licenses Challenges – Find 1 High Priest’s Amulet, then 1 High Priest’s Book of Scripture. We haven’t found these yet.
  • Scholar – Western Winterbloom Snows, Winterlands. The Scholar’s Guild is at the North edge of the area.
  • Extra Licenses Challenges – Find 5 Ancient Sentinel Cores, then 5 Almighty Soulstones. These are rare monster drops.
  • Thief – Clockbank, Brightlands. On the West side of the Industrial District, look for an opening in the wall that leads up into a building; switch to Night, or it’ll be empty.
  • Extra Licenses Challenges – Find 1 Thief’s Gem, then 1 Master Thief’s Sapphire. The gem is being carried by someone in Clockbank.
  • Hunter – Western Tropu’hopu Traverse, Toto’haha. It’s near the sign for the Nameless Village. Enter it and go West.
  • Extra Licenses Challenges – You need items only obtained by beating a Quicksand Monster and Sea Monster. We haven’t found where these are yet, but the Sea Monster might be in the Cavern of Waves off Toto’haha’s port.

Octopath Traveler 2 Job Altars & EX Skills

Each Character gets 2 EX Skills in Octopath Traveler 2. Everyone’s first EX Skill can be found by interacting with their Job Altar. You need to bring each character to the Altar of their Job.

Western Continent

  • Altar of the Thunderblade (Hikari) – Eastern Sai Sands, Hinoeuma. Go slightly East of the save point, then South through the broken roof.
    • EX Skill: Ultimate Stance – Extend the reach of your Attack to all foes for 3 turns.
  • Altar of the Charitable (Castti) – Northern Conning Creek Coast- Around the middle of the area, you’ll find a path through shallow water leading East. Follow this and enter the ruins.
    • EX Skill: Drastic Measures – Unleash a powerful axe attack on a single foe that removes their status ailments. More debuffs on the target mean more damage on the attack.
  • Altar of the Trader (Partitio) – Southern Crackridge Wilds, Wildlands. Go Right past the train bridge, then down some stairs. Then go right at the back of the second cave, which holds a chest.
    • EX Skill: Negotiate Schedule – Pay a single foe to let you act during their turn. 
  • Altar of the Lady of Grace (Agnea) – Northern Wellgrove Trail, Leaflands. Find the Save Point, then go slightly South and East. Look for a cave in the background.
    • EX Skill: Windy Refrain– Deal wind-based damage to all foes and cause your allies to go first on the next turn.

Eastern Continent

  • Altar of the Flamebringer (Temenos) –  Borderfall, Crestlands. As with the Cleric Guild, go Northwest to find the small building. The door to the Altar is against the back wall on the left.
    • EX Skill: Prayer for Plenty – Restore HP to a single ally, ignoring their max HP. 
  • Altar of the Scholarking (Osvald) – Western Winterbloom Snows, Winterlands. It’s under the north end of the bridge; walk across the ice.
    • EX Skill: Teach – Grant a single ally your attribute-raising effects for 2 turns. 
  • Altar of the Huntress (Ochette) – Western Tropu’hopu Traverse, Toto’haha. Go West from Tropu’hopu and South. There’s a cliff with a chest on it; walk into it from the North side.
    • EX Skill: Indomitable Beast – Raise your Physical Attack, Speed, and Evasion for 3 Turns. 
  • Altar of the Prince of Thieves (Throné) – Southern Clockbank Highroad, Brightlands. From the pier south of Clockbank, go Southeast, and look for a spot marked by four patches of lily pads.
    • EX Skill: Veil of Darkness – Deal darkness-based damage to all foes and dodge 1 Physical Attack with a 100% success rate.
