The Street Fighter 6 Open Beta just occurred this weekend, and players in the community are proclaimed their love for the Battle Hub on Reddit.
The Open Beta of Street Fighter 6 just concluded on May 21, 2023, and players flocked to Reddit to speak about their love of the newly added Battle Hub. We got to jump into the game to fill you in if you missed it.
The Battle Hub is a Digital Arcade
If you didn’t get a chance to check it out for yourself, the Street Fighter 6 Battle Hub is a digital arcade — an area where players can meet up to buy new cosmetics, play classic Capcom games, and face off against each other at arcade cabinets just like in a real-life arcade. Players will create a digital avatar with a wide suite of editing options, then use the Battle Hub to find matches.
While some could look at it as a gimmick, Street Fighter fans enjoyed it, with many on Reddit finding the new function fun. One newer player said:
Another player touched on their initial skepticism:
We’d agree that it was pretty cool to see everyone running around with their creator-made avatars. It helps with immersion, and while it’s not like any arcade we’ve ever seen, it’s a nice touch that adds personalization to the game.
The CFN System is Still a Bit Obtuse
While the Battle Hub is a pretty cool feature, it adds another step when facing your friends in a match. While the CFN system has never been great, it’s still somewhat confusing for new players to find and add friends, then play against them.
With the new Battle Hub, players must transport to their friends and then sit down at a cabinet to face off. Other friends can teleport and spectate a game, but it isn’t the most intuitive thing. Once you figure it out, though, it’s a blast. Other fighting games have done similar things (Dragon Ball FighterZ), but the Battle Hub fits perfectly within the Street Fighter universe and aesthetic.
For a game that hasn’t exactly supported larger groups, this is a good way to meet up with your Street Fighter friends in-game and set up small tournaments.
