Street Fighter 6 Sells 2 Million Copies

Street Fighter 6 outpaces all others in the illustrious fighting franchise.

Street Fighter 6 is one of the most successful fighting game launches gamers have seen recently. Outpacing all other Street Fighter titles in history, the game has already managed to sell 2 million copies a little over a month since its initial release on June 2, 2023.

Earlier last month, Capcom announced that it had already sold 1 million copies of a game, just under a week from its initial release. This proves that the title has some staying power and that word of mouth and critical acclaim, with the game sitting at a 92 Metascore rating, have convinced more players to scoop up the Capcom-created title.

As of March 31, 2023, Street Fighter V is the company’s best-selling Street Fighter title, having sold 7.2 million copies since its initial release date in February 2016. If the current momentum for the sixth game in the series is any indication, it should eventually outpace the title to become Capcom’s best-selling Street Fighter title in history.

With a $2 million prize pool announced for competitive Street Fighter 6, the marketing leading up to the launch, and listening to player feedback during the beta periods; there’s a high likelihood that the game will likely remain popular for some time.
