How to Raise Chickens in Slime Rancher 2

Need to feed your Tabby Slimes some meat? Here's how to raise chickens, or Hen Hens in Slime Rancher 2.

Did you pick up your first Tabby Slime only to realize you have zero food to feed it? Tabby Slimes and other meat-eating Slimes require a constant stream of meat to grow up and be big, healthy, and strong. If you’ve already corralled up some Tabby Slimes and now they have nothing to eat, don’t fear–we’re here to explain exactly how to raise chickens in Slime Rancher 2

How to Raise Chickens in Slime Rancher 2

To raise chickens in Slime Rancher 2, go to a blank plot and create a Coop. Then, suck up a Hen Hen and a Roostro and place them in the Coop together. You can place multiple chickens in the same Coop. Eventually, they will produce Chickadoos, which have a chance to grow into adult Hen Hens or Roostros. Finally, as you get more and more chickens, they will reproduce at an exponential rate!

You will find different types of Roostros and Hens throughout the world of Slime Rancher 2, such as the Stone Hen.

Where Can I Find Hens and Roostros in Slime Rancher 2?

Roostros and Hen Hens are located all around the map near your main base on Rainbow Island. Roostros are brown and rarer than their white Hen Hen counterparts, so it may take you a while to find one. Many times Hen Hens will have nests that attract other chickens. See below for a Roostro spawn location on Rainbow Island.

Chicken Coop Upgrades in Slime Rancher 2

The following upgrades are available at the Chicken Coop in Slime Rancher 2:

  • High Walls: Prevents chickens from flying away.
  • Spring Grass: Creates scuttle bugs that the chickens eat. Chickadoos grow into healthy Hens and Roostros twice as fast.
  • Vitamizer: Chickens produce eggs twice as fast.
  • Elder Collector: Takes away Elder chickens.

We highly suggest upgrading your Coop to High Walls and Spring Grass as fast as possible to increase how quickly your chickens mate. Once you have enough income, you can opt for the Vitamizer and then the Elder Collector last–since the Elder Collector doesn’t make things much easier for you.
