October has been a pretty content-filled month for Rust players worldwide. With new patches, Twitch streaming rewards, and a Lumberjack pack–there’s plenty of stuff to keep us busy during the spooky season this year. However, to many players’ dismay (ours included), nothing has been said about the Rust Halloween Event for 2022. Luckily–that’s just changed with an official Tweet from Facepunch. Here’s what we know about the Rust Halloween Event 2022 release date, start time, and details.
Post Updated 10/20/22: This post was updated to reflect new information that was released about the Rust Halloween Event 2022, which runs from October 20 – November 3, 2022.
Rust Halloween Event 2022 Release Date & Start Time
The Rust Halloween Event 2022 starts on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 2 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. BST / 6 p.m. UST. If it is like the 2021 Halloween-themed Darkness Falls event, the Halloween event will run until the first week in November.
Rust Halloween Event Details
This year’s Rust Halloween event for 2022 will include:
- Candy Hunt Event
- Halloween Portals
- New Halloween Items
- Frankenstein build-a-monster pet
- Halloween-themed skins
- NPC Scarecrows
- Pumpkin Carving
If this is all sounding a bit familiar, it’s because much of these Halloween-themed items were found in last year’s update of Darkness Falls.

Candy Hunt Event
Once every 2 in-game days, you’ll receive 3 minutes to collect as much candy as you can. The top 3 players on the server are given loot bags for their effort, anything from scrap metal all the way to high-tier weapons.
The Scarecrow Wrap and Ghost Costumes give you Candy Vision, making the candy easier to hunt down.
Portals
Portals have also been added to the game, which at the current time remain a mystery.
New and Returning Halloween Items
These are the new items available in the Store for the Rust Halloween Event 2022:
- Hockey Facemask: Reskin of the Metal Facemask
- Cultist Deer Torch: Reskin of the starter torch.
- Baseball Bat: Reskin of the Mace.
These are the items returning for the Rust Halloween Event 2022:
- Skull Rock
- Pumpkin Carving
- Skull Trophy Pack
- Skull Spike Pack
- Mummy Underwear
- Fogger 3000
- Candle Pack
- Cursed Cauldron
- Strobe Light
Frankenstein build-a-monster pet
Like the previous year–you can now build a Frankenstein monster that will follow you and do your bidding. To create it, you must collect the head, torso, and legs from Scarecrows and Mummies around the server. Then, you can create it on your workbench and control it with the P key.
