Sons of the Forest: How to Build a Tent

One of the first things you’ll have to do in the new survival game, Sons of the Forest, is to build some shelter to keep you away from the harsh elements so that you have somewhere to sleep.

When you find yourself on a deserted island with only a few meager supplies, shelter comes to mind as one of the most important things to lock down. In Sons of the Forest, a Tent is the most rudimentary type of shelter, but creating one isn’t exactly straightforward, so we created this quick guide to help you.

How to Build a Tent in Sons of the Forest

The tent is the most simple shelter you can construct in Sons of the Forest, but it enables players to save their game and gives them a place to sleep. To build a tent, players will need to obtain a Tarp from the starting beach and a Stick. Once you have the items, press I to bring up your inventory, then click the Tarp in the top right corner of the screen to equip it. Find a flat area to place it down, and a white dotted line will form. Click to lay down the Tarp.

Once you place the Tarp on the ground, reopen your inventory and select a stick. Walk up to one of the corners of the Tarp, and a white arrow will appear. Left-click to place the stick into the Tarp.

Once you finish building your tent, you’ll have a shelter to save the game or sleep in. Hold E to save your game or hold Z to sleep. Players will sleep to refill their sleep meter, but keep in mind sleeping will deplete your food and drink meters.
