Where to Find Solar Panels in Sons of the Forest

Here's a guide on where to find Solar Panels in Sons of the Forest, and how to use them.

Solar panels, wires, and light bulbs were all added to Sons of the Forest’s construction system in Patch 03. Aside from the new electric unicycle Knight V and night vision goggles, this is perhaps the biggest part of the update. In this guide, we’ll give you a quick rundown on where to find Solar Panels in Sons of the Forest and how to use them.

Where to Find Solar Panels in Sons of the Forest

Solar Panels can be found inside the “Maintenance A” Bunker, which you’ll need the Shovel to get into. Climb down the hatch, and make your way down the hallway to the storage room. You’ll find two solar panels, light bulbs, and some wire — all you need to make electricity.

Solar Panels, light bulbs, and wire can also be found randomly throughout the game in containers and cases. But the Maintenance A Bunker is a guaranteed spawn, so that’s your best bet if you want to get your hands on these new items.

How to Use Solar Panels in Sons of the Forest

In Sons of the Forest, you can place solar panels on any slanted surface like a roof. When you place a solar panel, wires will protrude from the sides of it. You can connect more wire to the solar panels and run it throughout your house, and then place light bulbs on the wires, and the light bulbs will automatically light up.

How to Use Solar Panels in Sons of the Forest

If you’ve placed a solar panel on your roof and have some wire in hand, you should see an arrow pointing down. The wire goes through rooftops, meaning you can wire the solar panel straight down from your roof to the inside of your house or structure. You can then continue to place the wire on the ceiling inside your base and connect light bulbs to them.

The solar panels don’t need to charge — they will work as soon as you place them down. Power is still a new feature at the time of writing, so they may change how solar panels and light bulbs works in future updates. If things do change, we’ll be sure to update this guide to reflect that.
