Sons of the Forest: How to Make Bows and Arrows

Here's how to get your first bow and arrow in Sons of the Forest.

If you need a ranged weapon in Sons of the Forest, a bow and arrows is a great place to start. Luckily, the materials required aren’t too hard to find, as long as you know where to look.

In Sons of the Forest, you’ll encounter many mutated natives while on your journey, many of which are hostile towards you. To take them out, you’ll need weapons, and one of the first ranged weapons you can get is a bow and arrow. Here’s how to make bows and arrows in Sons of the Forest

If you want to save some of your health, a safer way to approach enemies is with a ranged weapon. To craft a bow, players must collect Duct Tape, Sticks (x2), and Rope, then open the inventory menu by hitting I. From here, right-click the required materials, then press the gear icon. Your character will do a quick animation and construct the bow, which you can equip by left-clicking the item in your inventory.

Players can also find Compound Arrows in the game world or create them with the 3D printer. Compound arrows are more powerful arrows and will do more damage to enemies.

Feathers can be found on birds in the game. Hit the birds with a weapon, and feathers will fly out. Players can hit the birds up to three times for additional feathers.

Once you make the bow, hold left-click to pull back the arrow and release the mouse button to shoot it. Hitting enemies in the head or upper chest will do more damage to them.

The bow is a great weapon that will last you pretty far into the story, even after you get a gun, since crafting ammunition for it is far easier. It’s a crucial weapon that will come in handy, so players should create one even if they prefer melee combat because they can always pull enemies with it or get in some extra damage before they engage face-to-face.
