Turtle Power! TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge Sells 1 Million Copies

These heroes in a half-shell are kicking up the sales

Publisher Dotemu and developer Tribute Games, in partnership with Nickelodeon, today announced more than 1 million copies of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge have been sold after one week.

Available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, and PC Game Pass, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is an old-school side-scrolling beat ’em up that harkens back to the Nintendo and SNES days. This game’s incredible and quick success proves that there is still a big demand for old-school games using new-school technology and game systems.

According to the CEO of Dotemu, Cyrille Imbert:

“We’re thankful for all of the support and encouragement the passionate TMNT community has shown us since the reveal of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, and we look forward to watching players continue to discover the easter eggs we’ve hidden throughout the game while chaining together some bodacious combos.”

If the success of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge and other similar games like Cuphead: Don’t Deal with the Devil is any indication of the future of side-scrolling action games, we should see many more IPs enter the genre. This is something we, along with other classic gaming fans, embrace with open arms. Especially if they are able to pull off their games with the same level of skill. We wonder what other classic games could return.

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge has up to 6 player local and online co-op and features iconic characters from the TMNT franchise. Each character you play has unique moves, skills, and ultimate attacks, providing greater game re-playability. The graphics are an updated rehash of the classic games, and the game’s soundtrack will bring older fans back to the 90s with its nostalgic rocking beats.

You can buy the game on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation stores.
