The Undecember demo dropped just a couple of days ago, and we decided to get a closer look at the upcoming hack-and-slash RPG before its release this October. Developed by Needs Games and published by LINE Games, Undecember is a new F2P ARPG that is making waves with its wide range of gameplay options and stunning visual style. Here’s the Undecember release date, trailer, and demo details.
What is Undecember Release Date?
Undecember is releasing on October 12, 2022, on PC, Android, and iOS. The Undecember demo is available until Steam Next Fest ends on October 10, 2022.
Undecember Trailer – What is Undecember?
Undecember is a free-to-play Action RPG hoping to breathe new life into the genre, focusing on breaking down conventional restrictions. There are no fixed classes, and abilities and stats can be freely reallocated, granting players an exceptional range of playstyle choices.
Set in a fantasy universe where the long-dormant and malevolent God Serpens is awakened, players must fight alone or with others to save the world as Rune-Hunters.

What Does the Undecember Demo Offer?
The demo begins with a small “taste of power,” featuring an end-game character to show off the 3 archetypes before unleashing the player on the world of Traum. After a short on-the-rails tutorial to get the player acquainted with the main mechanics, they are free to run around as they wish, taking quests, fighting monsters, and building up their character.
While the Undecember store page spoke proudly of their changes to the formula, there are plenty of familiar sights and mechanics if you’re familiar with ARPGs.
The control scheme is built around clicking where to move and aiming strikes with the mouse, while the keyboard is for activating assorted attacks and other actions, such as drinking potions. Waypoints and Return Scrolls are found out in the expansive stages so players can easily return to base, and enemies consist of small mobs of varied opponents with 1 or 2 unique boss characters sporting special abilities. We’ll hopefully see more enemy bosses after the Undecember release date.
Skill Point Variety Creates Unique Possibilities
Players are introduced quickly to the Rune system. Rather than using a skill tree, attack abilities referred to as skills are found and collected as Rune-Hunters progress through the game in the same manner as weapons and armor.
While some Skills are understandably locked to a particular weapon type (no melee attacks work for bows, for example), most can be used regardless of equipment so long as the stat requirements are met. Combined with Link Runes to augment their preferred skills, players build their own arsenal of problem-solvers and can level up the Skill and Link Runes themselves to stay competitive.
Another of the much-touted systems is the Zodiac. In addition to managing stat points, it also allows players to invest in constellation-shaped trait tracks, functioning similarly to the Devotion system in Grim Dawn.
While there was not enough room in the demo to see what could ultimately come from this system, the developers deserve credit for their efforts to shake up the accepted conventions of the genre, particularly with their emphasis on player choice.
